The missile was launched from the Kapustin Yar rocket launch and development site in Astrakhan Oblast, between Volgograd and Astrakhan near the town of Znamensk.

It is hard to determine the exact date and test location. The type of missile is still being assessed.

According to Lenta.ru, the launches took place on Sunday, December 9, at the Kapustin Yar.  It is assumed that it was S-300 surface-to-air defense missile.

Kapustin Yar – rocket military range in the north-western part of the Astrakhan region. Official name: 4th State Central Interdepartmental Test Site of the Russian Federation (4 GPC).

Not only strategic missiles began their journey here at the test site, but also operational tactical complexes, as well as missile systems for the Air Defense Forces, including the famous S-300 complex. At the present time, tests of the newest intercontinental ballistic missile test and interceptor missiles, are being completed at the test site.
