Russia’s Zelenodolsk Shipyard notes interest in new landing craft A223

On August 23, the general director of  «Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky» Renat Mistakhov presented to the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yury Borisov the project of the landing craft A223 during the Army-2017 international military-technical exhibition.

The new A223 landing craft is designed for the landing of troops and equipment on the shore. The length of the landing craft A223 is about 35 meters, the width is about 7 meters, and the draft is about one meter. The boat is driven by two waterjet propulsion, which makes it possible to develop the speed of about 40 knots. It is more than 70 kilometers per hour.

The Project A223 landing craft remain seaworthy in sea state 5, which allows them to operate practically in any conditions. Depending on the version, the ship takes on board up to 150 marines or one to three T-90 tanks, or four to seven BTR-82A APCs.

Also on this day, the stand of the enterprise was visited by Mikhail Petukhov, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation.
