Russian Airborne Troops looks to buy lightweight assault vehicles

The Russian Airborne Troops, also known as VDV, is looking to purchase new highly maneuverable vehicles is designed to rapidly deploy tactical groups.

Now the defence consortium Intrall and UAMZ Group has offered its new Eskadron lightweight assault vehicle to the Russian Airborne Troops. The vehicle can easily maneuver even difficult terrain; off road, it can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h.

The three-ton Eskadron can seat four passengers and carry up to 1,500 kilos of payload. The assault vehicle will be equipped with Kord 12.7 mm heavy machine gun and four Kornet anti-tank guided missiles.

Two Eskadron vehicles can be loaded internally in a Mi-8 military transport helicopter or can be paradropped from medium military cargo aircraft into special paratroopers platform.
