French defence company plans to arrange production of drone boats in Russia

The French company ECA Group announced plans to build its unmanned boats Inspector Mk2 and anti-mine submersibles Seascan Mk2 in Russia.

Within the next two years, the French ECA Group will arrange production of unmanned boats Inspector Mk2 and anti-mine submersibles Seascan Mk2 in Russia a company’s director Dominique Mallet told to the Russian media.

According to Dominique Mallet, the ECA Group initially planned to sell Russia four unmanned boats and four submersibles for Alexandrite-class minesweepers. Later on, however, the parties agreed upon delivery of only three boats. Russia has received two Inspectors, another one is to be delivered by the end of 2017. The contract costs about €10 mln.

Unmanned Surface Vehicle Inspector MK2

The USV Inspector MK2 is a multipurpose drone platform based on hydrojet propulsion, able to be operated in autonomous mode, remoted control or onboard steering. Its performances and its accuracy make it efficient in protection missions, reccurent operations, mine warefare activities and Rapid Environment Assessment. Its open design permits to deploy a large range of payloads.

Seascan MK2 is a light weight self-propelled ROV dedicated to inspection missions. Its unique architecture ensures second to none performances in terms of hovering capability and stability in turbulent water.
