Kenya receives 25 «Bigfoot» mine resistant vehicles from China

President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta has unveiled the third batch of police vehicles and equipment acquired through the government’s leasing programme. That was reported by www.nation.co.ke.

Mr Kenyatta unveiled 525 vehicles, including 25 CS/VP3 «Bigfoot» armoured personnel carriers designed and manufactured by the Chinese Company Poly Technologies, at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, as part of the government’s police modernisation programme.

The vehicles will be distributed to counties to assist the police in their day to day activities of making the country a secure place.

The CS/VP3 «Bigfoot» is an armoured personnel carrier in the category of MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle) vehicle. Vehicle is designed to provide secured transportation for combat personnel and materials.

The CS/VP3 is motorized with a unspecified Diesel engine. The vehicle can run at a maximum road speed of 100km with a maximum cruising range of 800 km. The CS/VP3 is able to negotiate slopes up to 60%, side slopes to 30%, vertical obstacle of 0.6m and fording depth of 1.2m.
