UkrOboronProm unveils improved variant of Mi-24PU1 attack helicopters

The SE “Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant “Aviakon”, part of the Ukrainian State Concern “UkrOboronProm”,  unveiled the  improved variant of Mi-24PU1 attack helicopters.

The “Aviakon” is ready to transfer three attack helicopters Mi-24PU1 to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Mi-24PU1 meets all modern warfare requirements, equipped with advanced electronics, effective system of protection and powerful weapons. This is the equipment defenders of our country need and the SC “UkrOboronProm” continues to supply the armed forces of Ukraine with this type of military equipment “, – said the head of the SC” UkrOboronProm” Roman Romanov.

It should be noted that during Mi-24PU1 development special attention was paid to attack helicopters’ security enhancing. Domestic experts have mounted protection ultramodern complex Adros, developed by Scientific Industrial Complex “Progress”. This complex misguides missiles with infra-red guidance, enhancing helicopter protection from man-portable air defense systems of “Igla” and Stinger types, and missiles of “air-to-air” type R-60 and R-73.

To destroy the enemy Mi-24PU-1 is equipped with a super 30-mm automatic cannon and a variety of missile weapons, including precision “BAR’ER-V” anti-tank guided missiles.

“BAR’ER-V” helicopter antitank missile system is intended for modernization of Mi-24 helicopters, consists of an antitank guided missile in transport and launching container, laser control channel in optical and aiming station. The system is designed to destroy stationary and moving modern armoured targets with combined, carried or monolithic armour, including ERA (explosive reactive armour) as well as pinpoint targets such as weapon emplacements, a tank in a trench, light-armoured objects and helicopters.

The attack helicopter Mi-24PU-1 is empowered with new domestic engines, contributing to speed and maneuverability increase. Modern sighting and navigation systems provide a major advance of capabilities of the helicopter, allowing to effectively perform tasks even in complete darkness.
