Saudi Arabia to buy new Ukrainian-made «Grom-2» tactical missile systems

Saudi Arabia is discussing buying Ukrainian-made «Grom-2» tactical missile systems, according to the press service of the Pavlograd Chemical Plant.

Ukraine’s defense companies have received from Saudi Arabia around $40 million to develop the Grom-2 tactical ballistic missile system, Ukrainian media reported.

Ukraine will perform the first test launch of new tactical missile systems in the second half of 2016.

The «Grom-2» has a range of 350km (max 500km), developed by Yuzhnoye Design Bureau and the Pavlograd Chemical Plant are in charge of developing the weapon and testing.

Earlier Russian media reported, that Saudi Arabia setting terms for the purchase of Russian Iskander missiles, but Information obtained by Stratfor reveals that Saudi Arabia has no plans to purchase military hardware from Russia, including the Iskander-E, a tactical ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear weapon.
