The Ukrainian National Guard has begun fielding the newly developed Inguar-3 armored vehicles.
The vehicles, produced by Inguar Defence, were first spotted with the 18th Slavic Brigade of the National Guard during outfitting with anti-drone cages, according to a report by Militarnyi.
The appearance of Inguar-3 with the brigade confirms one of the unnamed recipients from a government contract signed late last year. That contract involved two Ukrainian agencies, with deliveries initially expected to begin this summer.
In a statement made earlier, Inguar Defence noted that the vehicle was designed from the ground up during the full-scale Russian invasion and reflects battlefield requirements identified through direct feedback from troops. The prototype was tested by fighters from the Azov unit in the Serebryanske forest, where soldiers praised its off-road performance—surpassing platforms like the Ford F-550 and Turkish-made Kirpi. Areas for refinement were also outlined during the evaluation.
The Inguar-3 is classified as a modular tactical armored vehicle and features separate armored capsules for the crew and troop compartments, allowing for quick conversion into different configurations—including troop carrier, pickup, or weapons platform. The manufacturer states that the vehicle meets STANAG 4569 Level 3a/3b standards, capable of withstanding 7.62×51 mm armor-piercing rounds and fragmentation from 155 mm artillery shells at a distance of 60 meters.
Mine protection under the same standard allows the vehicle to survive the detonation of an anti-tank mine with up to 8 kilograms of explosives beneath the hull. The company also highlights additional protective measures around the engine compartment to improve survivability against shrapnel.
As built, the vehicle integrates an onboard electronic warfare station and was expected to be delivered with drone defense structures or at least mounting brackets. Based on recent images, however, the anti-drone kits were not included in the initial shipments and are being added manually by units in the field.
Powering the Inguar-3 is a 356-horsepower Deutz engine generating 1,500 Nm of torque, paired with an Allison automatic transmission. The vehicle features a frame-based design, independent suspension with planetary gearboxes, and includes a central tire inflation system and RunFlat inserts for continued mobility after tire damage.
The manufacturer emphasized that the development and production of the Inguar-3 occurred under compressed wartime timelines, with the first prototype built and serial production launched in record time.
The deployment of these vehicles reflects Ukraine’s continued effort to reduce dependence on foreign platforms and meet battlefield needs through localized innovation.
