India will celebrate its 67th Republic Day on 26 January with a grand parade. Republic Day honours the adoption of the Indian constitution in 1950.
This year’s parade has two unique features. Several adorable Indian army dogs, including labradors and German shepherds, will march in the parade after 26 years. Also for the first time, a foreign contigent will participate in the Republic Day parade. With French president Francois Hollande is the chief guest, French troops will march alongside their Indian counterparts.
India has been put under unprecedented security alert ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. Security agencies have warned of greater terror threat to India this time than in the the past.
This is mainly because of the added threat of Islamic State terrorists this time, in place of the threats form Pakistan based terror groups.
