Military helicopter damages building during urban training in Port Huron

A military helicopter dropping off soldiers as part of an urban military training exercise has damaged an awning and bricks on a building in downtown Port Huron.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports (http://bwne.ws/1QhpqFR ) the helicopter approached the vacant Sperry’s building from the east about 1:30 a.m. Monday and rotor wash from the helicopter blew bricks from the building onto the awning. No one was injured.

U.S. Army spokeswoman Randee Farrell says engineers reviewed the accident and found that the structure of the building wasn’t damaged.
Farrell says crews planned to clean up the mess and the military would repair the building.
