Kratos secures $100M hypersonic system contract

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. has announced a new contract award valued at approximately $100 million for a hypersonic system program.

According to a press release, the contract includes $15 million in initial funding, with additional funds expected in the latter half of Kratos’ fiscal year 2025.

Under the contract, Kratos will provide engineering, systems, and hardware to support hypersonic capabilities. The work will be conducted at Kratos’ secure fabrication, manufacturing, and system integration facilities. Due to competitive and security considerations, further details about the program have not been disclosed.

Tom Mills, President of Kratos C5ISR Division, highlighted the company’s leadership in delivering reliable, military-grade systems at scale.

“Kratos’ reputation as the industry leader in delivering military quality hardware, products, and systems at scale, was a key factor in the receipt of this new program award,” Mills stated. “The design, engineering, and production of National Security related hardware, that must work every time, is hard, and I am proud of our entire organization’s commitment to the United States and its allies’ mil spec system requirements.”

Kratos has established itself as a pioneer in the rapid development and fielding of hypersonic systems, including the Erinyes and Zeus platforms, as well as tactical unmanned aerial vehicles like Thanatos and Valkyrie. The company also produces jet engines for aerial drones and missiles, along with related C5ISR hardware.

Focus on Readiness and Cost Efficiency
Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering operationally ready systems that meet the needs of the U.S. and its allies.

“At Kratos, it’s products today, not PowerPoints of a hoped-for, maybe someday system, at an unknown cost,” DeMarco said. “Kratos warfighter and mission-focused customers understand that ‘better is the enemy of good enough and ready to field today,’ while reducing development cost and saving money in today’s increasingly fiscally challenging environment.”

As the program progresses, Kratos’ contributions to the hypersonic systems space are expected to enhance the readiness and operational capabilities of U.S. forces and their allies.
