The Irish Air Corps has announced the acquisition of four Airbus H145M helicopters as part of its fleet modernization efforts.
Equipped with Airbus’ advanced weapon management system, HFORCE, these helicopters are set to enhance the Corps’ operational capabilities.
The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Once operational, the H145Ms will serve in various roles, including intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR), as well as training and light attack missions.
In a statement, the Irish Air Corps emphasized the importance of the new fleet in meeting future demands. “The Irish Air Corps is acquiring 4 Airbus H145M helicopters, modernizing our fleet and boosting readiness for key missions,” the statement read.
The H145M, a versatile military helicopter, has gained recognition for its modular design and adaptability to a range of mission profiles. The HFORCE weapon management system allows the helicopter to be equipped with a range of armament options, making it suitable for light attack and support operations.
Airbus Helicopters highlighted the multi-role capabilities of the H145M, stating, “These helicopters will support the Irish Air Corps in tasks including ISTAR, training, and light attack, ensuring mission readiness and adaptability.”
This acquisition represents a step forward in the Irish Air Corps’ modernization strategy. The new helicopters will replace older platforms and ensure the Corps remains equipped to address evolving security challenges.
