Milrem showcases weaponized unmanned vehicles at Eurosatory

Milrem Robotics, a global leader in robotics and autonomous systems, has unveiled a range of weaponized unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) at Eurosatory 2024.

The showcase features eight THeMIS UGVs, with four equipped with advanced weapon systems from top-tier technology providers such as KONGSBERG, Thales, Leonardo, and FN Herstal.

The THeMIS Combat UGVs form the forward line of robotic systems (FLOR), designed to engage high-threat situations without risking human lives. “THeMIS Combat UGVs ensure first contact is made without blood, allowing commanders to identify and engage threats before human intervention,” explained Patrick Shepherd, Chief Sales Officer at Milrem Robotics.

One of the key highlights is the FZ602 2-tube rocket launcher by Thales Belgium, integrated into the THeMIS platform. This system is showcased alongside KONGSBERG’s PROTECTOR RS4, the world’s most fielded Remote Weapon System (RWS). Additionally, KONGSBERG presents the THeMIS Combat equipped with their PROTECTOR RS6, featuring the M230 LF 30mm cannon.

The THeMIS platform with Leonardo’s HITROLE Light Remote Weapon Station (RWS) is publicly displayed for the first time, following its announcement in October 2023. This system, along with others showcased, underscores the versatility and advanced capabilities of the THeMIS UGVs.

“Unmanned combat vehicles like the THeMIS Combat force enemies to reveal their positions by engaging the robotic system, thus enhancing the effectiveness of manned assets and reducing casualties,” Shepherd added.

Exhibited with Thales, the THeMIS Observe UGV intended for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) features FN Herstal’s deFNder Light RWS, capable of integrating machine guns up to 7.62mm caliber.
