U.S. Air National Guard conducts medical evacuation training with Ukrainian specialists

U.S. Air National Guard Soldiers from the 146th Airlift Wing a conducted integration aeromedical evacuation training with Ukrainian specialists during the  Clear Sky 2018, a multinational training exercise held at Clear Sky 18, Ukraine.

The Clear Sky 2018 is a multinational military exercise with the participation of U.S. combat aircraft and takes place mainly at Starokostiantyniv and Vinnytsia Air Bases, and other training areas and ranges in Ukraine.

Pararescuemen from the California Air National Guard instruct Ukrainian Military on executing the proper procedures for climbing a rope ladder affixed to a climbing tower. The training simulates being secured to a hovering helicopter as part of Clear Sky 2018, a multinational, flight-centered exercise held at Starokostiantyniv and Vinnytsia Air bases, Ukraine.

Air National Guard members, including pararescuemen and aeromedical evacuation specialists, conduct training with Ukrainian counterparts as part of Exercise Clear Sky 2018, a multinational flight-centered exercise held at Vinnytsia Air base and during Media Day in Starokostiantyniv, Ukraine.

It should be stated, really Ukraine is not NATO member, although relations with the alliance began in 1994. In 2014, following the Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea, Ukraine has been involved in a low-intensity conflict with Russian proxy forces in the east of the country, growing, as a consequence, cooperation with NATO.

Besides Ukraine and the United States, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom are participating in the exercise. Clear Sky 18 promotes regional stability and security, while strengthening partner capabilities and fostering trust.
