Ukraine military is expected to receive an unspecified number of the 122mm 2S1 “Gvozdika” self-propelled howitzers from Poland, reports Olexia Basarab citing the press service of the Czechoslovak Group.
According to the press service of the Czechoslovak Group, the Ukrainian Army will receive 2S1 “Gvozdika” self-propelled howitzers, which were produced in Poland and were in the service of the Czech army.
The Czech company works with the Polish company Wtorplast, under contract with Ukraine to delivery BMP-1AK infantry fighting vehicles and 2S1 “Gvozdika” self-propelled howitzers within the framework of military-technical cooperation (MTC) between Ukraine and Poland.

Self-propelled howitzers and infantry fighting vehicles are being exported to Ukraine via Poland, with the consent of the Czech licensing authority, told Czechoslovak Group spokesman Andrej Cirtek.
“Excalibur Army will completely overhaul the armoured vehicles and self-propelled howitzers at VOP 026 Sternberk and then transport them to our partner Wtorplast in Poland, which will export them to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,” he added.
The 2S1 Gvosdika is fitted with a D-32 122 mm rifled howitzer. It is a modified variant of the D-30 towed howitzer. Howitzer is fitted with a load assisting system. Maximum rate of fire is 4-5 rounds per minute. The Gvosdika is compatible with all 122 mm munitions developed for the D-30 howitzer.
