1,500 troops taking part in joint military exercises in Kazakhstan

About 1,500 troops are taking part in the «Nerushimoye bratstvo – 2017» (Unbreakable Brotherhood-2017) joint military exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) at the Ilyisky practice range in Kazakhstan.

Peace-keepers and police from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan are taking part in the exercise, which will run until Friday (October 20).

“The main goal of the exercise is to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the CSTO member states’ peacekeeping forces, improve practical skills of commanders and staffs at all levels in the preparation of peacekeeping operations and management of the units, problem solving in the termination and localization of the conflict, as well as the improvement of the field training of peacekeeping contingents during joint operations in difficult conditions of the Central Asia, “the ministry said in a Defence Minister of Kazakhstan’s statement.

The drills are part of the CSTO’s Combat Brotherhood-2017 exercise, which is scheduled to conclude in Tajikistan November 10-20.
