Ukrainian company develops new VARTA 6×6 multi-functional mine resistant vehicle

Ukrainian Armor LLC company has developed a new VARTA 6×6 multi-functional mine resistant vehicle.

The VARTA 6×6 is a mine resistant ambush protected vehicle designed and manufactured for the Armed Forces and National Guard of Ukraine. The prototype, which was designed as a private venture, was unveiled at the «Arms and Security» exhibition held in Ukraine in October 2016.

The layout of the VARTA 6×6 is based on a standard ZiL-131 truck, with the engine at the front, crew compartment in the middle, and the cargo are at the rear.   Developers say the vehicle is more dependable than armored personnel carriers, and that it can withstand mine blasts.

The new generation 6×6 armoured vehicle can be deployed in reconnaissance, surveillance, command and staff, engineer reconnaissance, medical evacuation, nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) reconnaissance and surveillance, fire support, special attack and armed escort missions.
