Turkiye is preparing to showcase its most advanced ballistic missile yet at the upcoming IDEF 2025 defense industry exhibition in Istanbul, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to expand its strategic strike capabilities.
The TAYFUN missile, developed domestically by Roketsan, is billed as Türkiye’s longest-range missile to date, with a stated range of 500 to 800 kilometers and aspirations to surpass the 1,000-kilometer threshold in future iterations. The system has been engineered for precision, striking targets with an accuracy of approximately five meters, even against naval assets at sea.
The mobile-launched missile system is designed for rapid relocation and quick deployment, enhancing its survivability in contested environments.
Turkish defense analysts describe TAYFUN as hypersonic, jam-resistant, and challenging for adversaries to intercept, reinforcing Ankara’s growing emphasis on indigenous technology for critical defense applications.

The new version of TAYFUN will be presented to the public for the first time during IDEF 2025, Türkiye’s premier defense and aerospace exhibition, which runs from July 22 to 27 at the Istanbul Exhibition Center. This year’s event promises a revamped format and is expected to attract delegations from NATO allies and defense industries worldwide.
The system is expected to draw considerable attention at IDEF, both for its technological innovations and for its implications in the balance of power across the Eastern Mediterranean.
