Plasan develops top-attack protection for armored vehicles

As modern warfare evolves, Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) are increasingly vulnerable to munitions that strike from above, such as drones and cluster sub-munitions. In response to this emerging threat, Plasan, a leading developer of advanced armor solutions, has developed the Top Attack Protection System (TAPS), a lightweight add-on designed to safeguard AFVs from these high-angle attacks.

As noted by the company, TAPS is engineered to work in tandem with the vehicle’s existing kinetic energy protection, offering a significant enhancement to its overall defense capabilities. The system’s design prioritizes minimal weight addition, ensuring that the vehicle’s mobility and performance remain uncompromised.

The company says that following rigorous testing by several Western armies, TAPS has been approved for field deployment. The system has demonstrated exceptional performance in extreme environmental conditions, maintaining its protective capabilities without degradation. The approval marks a critical milestone in AFV protection, as the system is now entering serial production.

Plasan’s TAPS stands out for its ability to deliver reliable protection in the most challenging environments, making it a vital component for modern armored forces.

As threats continue to evolve, the integration of advanced systems like TAPS will be essential in ensuring the survivability of AFVs on the modern battlefield.
