An Iranian-made Fateh-110 ballistic missile has been discovered under the rubble of a building in Mount Lebanon following an Israeli airstrike, providing the first concrete evidence that Hezbollah possesses the powerful weapon.
The missile, with a range of approximately 250 to 300 kilometers, is capable of delivering a warhead weighing up to 500 kilograms and can be outfitted with precision guidance systems.
The discovery follows years of speculation that Hezbollah has been supplied with advanced missile systems by Iran. Reports suggest that Hezbollah has had access to the Fateh-110 since around 2014, but this is the first time such a missile has been found and confirmed on Lebanese soil.
The Israeli airstrike, part of its ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah’s missile infrastructure, targeted a suspected weapons depot in Mount Lebanon.
The Fateh-110 is a short-range ballistic missile developed by Iran, known for its mobility and accuracy. Its warhead can be equipped with various payloads, making it a versatile weapon in both offensive and defensive roles. Analysts have raised concerns over the possibility of Hezbollah using precision guidance systems with the Fateh-110, which would allow the group to target critical infrastructure with greater accuracy.
Israel has consistently targeted Hezbollah’s missile stockpiles in Lebanon and Syria, viewing the group’s growing missile capabilities as a strategic threat.
