AM General showcases autonomous UGV at AUSA Global Force

AM General said it will present a new Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) at the Association of the U.S. Army Global Force Symposium & Exposition, scheduled for March 24–26, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama.

The company confirmed the platform will be displayed at the Von Braun Convention Center as part of its latest effort to advance autonomous logistics systems.

The new UGV is designed to move supplies between Brigade Support Areas and forward-deployed units without direct human control, reducing exposure of personnel to risk in high-threat zones.

According to AM General, the UGV is built on a next-generation light tactical vehicle powertrain and is intended to close logistics gaps on the battlefield. The system is capable of performing multiple mission sets autonomously, including cargo transport and support operations across extended distances.

“We are excited to showcase the next generation of innovation at AUSA Global Force,” said incoming AM General President and CEO, John Chadbourne. “The UGV is a groundbreaking capability for Army logistics needs. We’re also envisioning the additional benefits of this flexible platform and is an example of what collaborative industry initiatives can deliver.”

The platform is being developed in collaboration with Carnegie Robotics and Textron Systems. As noted by the company, the vehicle integrates an autonomy stack and control systems designed to enable reliable operation in complex environments while maintaining modularity for different mission requirements.

The UGV features a reconfigurable cargo deck that supports multiple payload configurations, as well as a wireless, remote-controlled T-boom service crane intended to improve logistical handling. It also incorporates an L-track modular cargo fastening system to secure different types of equipment during transport.

At the exhibition, the vehicle will carry the FireAnt small unmanned ground vehicle developed by Swarmbotics AI. The FireAnt system is described as a low-cost, attritable platform designed to extend situational awareness and support operations in high-risk environments.

“At Carnegie Robotics, we are excited to continue this partnership with AM General—a collaboration that fuses engineering excellence with visionary ambition,” said Leo Agafonov, Director of Technical Operations. “By integrating our robust, low-cost autonomy stack and modular hardware kit, we are accelerating the deployment of next-generation unmanned systems.”

The vehicle is powered by a new turbocharged 6.5-liter V8 engine featuring a common rail direct injection fuel system. According to AM General, the engine produces 250 horsepower and more than 550 lb-ft of torque, with fuel-flexible capability and enhanced cooling performance. The same powertrain is expected to support future light tactical vehicles, including updated variants of the HUMVEE platform.
