US Marine Corps awards contract to Saab for training systems

Saab has received a $37 million contract modification from the U.S. Marine Corps for additional Marine Corps Training Instrumentation Systems (MCTIS) equipment, according to an announcement from the company.

Deliveries under this new award are scheduled from 2025 to 2027.

This latest order expands the Marine Corps’ existing capability using Saab’s deployable and expeditionary training systems. The Marine Corps Training Instrumentation Systems provide a realistic, interoperable training environment designed to improve Marines’ operational effectiveness and survivability during combat operations.

According to Saab, the MCTIS equipment supports the development of effective tactics, techniques, and procedures and enables joint interoperability training with NATO allies during multinational exercises. The system facilitates rigorous, realistic scenarios allowing Marines to analyze and improve their tactical decision-making and operational responses.

We take pride in providing the premier interoperable, land-based live training capability in the world.”

Saab initially began its partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps in June 2021, transitioning from the previous Instrumentation and Tactical Engagement Simulation System II (ITESS-II) to the more advanced MCTIS training solution. The new system represents a modernization aimed at addressing current and future operational challenges faced by the Marine Corps.
