Russia test-fires nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile

Russian Strategic Missile Forces and Aerospace Forces has successfully test-fired its Topol-M silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome.

“On January 16, joint unit of the Strategic Missile Forces and Aerospace Forces launched the Topol-M silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile” -said press service of MOD.

The warhead of the missile has engaged the conditional target located at the Kamchatka range.

Check of flight tactic characteristics of the intercontinental ballistic missile was the goal of the launch.

By the end of 2010 the Russian Strategic Missile Troops operated 70 Topol-M missile systems including 52 silo-based and 18 mobile systems.
