Russia to deliver a batch of upgraded Mi-24P attack helicopters to Angola

Russian Helicopters company plans to deliver a batch of upgraded Mi-24P attack helicopters to the Angolan air force later this month. That was reported by russianhelicopters.aero.

The contract was signed on the line of “Rosoboronexport” a few years ago. Part of the Mi-24P, derived from the stock of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, passed overhaul reconditioning on the basis of 150 aircraft repair plant (ARP) “Helicopters of Russia” Holding (included in the State Corporation Rostec).

The helicopters underwent rotor blade and tail rotor blade replacements in addition to engine, transmission unit and avionics repairs.

“In 2016-2017, we plan to continue exporting these helicopters (Mi-17 and Mi-24) to Angola, Mali, Sudan, Nigeria,” Tass quoted Rosoboronexport’s Yury Demchenko, head of a Russian delegation to the Africa Aerospace & Defense Expo, as saying. “Our position in the African helicopter market is solid, so we are optimistic about the prospects of cultivating it further.”
