Belarus to provide enhanced combat and performance capabilities to Vietnam’s air defence units

The Belarus’s scientific and industrial private unitary enterprise specializing in an upgrading of air defense missile systems, the Tetraedr, to provide enhanced combat and performance capabilities to Vietnam’s air defence units.

According to the official webіite of Tetraedr, during the official visit of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang to Minsk, the Vietnamese delegation has visited the Tetraedr UE on June 28, 2017.

The guests have got acquainted with the industrial facilities of the Tetraedr UE where assembling, tuning and adjustment of the manufactured by the enterprise products are carried out.

The Tetraedr successfully performs in Vietnam the contract on upgrade of the S-125M air defense missile systems to the level of the S-125-2TM. Representatives of the delegation noted good quality of the equipment and high level of performed works.

The S-125-2ТM PECHORA-2TM air defense missile system is designed to fight modern and advanced aerial attack assets in complex jamming environment. The S-125-2ТM PECHORA-2TM air defense missile system enables efficient destruction of low-altitude and small-size targets under the conditions of all types of jamming. In exceptional cases the air defense missile system can be employed to destroy radar-visible ground and water-surface targets.

At present the Tetraedr UE is successfully implementing other projects in Vietnam.
Vietnam also has expressed an interest in a new  T38 STILET short-range air-defense system.  The STILET air-defense system provides acquisition and identification of targets on the move and at halts, as well as engagement of target with one or two missiles from a short halt or from a stationary position.

Combat assets composition:

  • the T381 Combat Vehicle (CV)
  • the T382 Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAM)

Technical support assets composition:

  • the T383 Transportation and Loading Vehicle (TLV)
  • the T384 Alignment Vehicle (AV)
  • the T385 Maintenance Vehicle (MV)
  • the T386 Automated Mobile Check-up and Testing Station (AKIPS)
  • the T387 Ground Equipment Kit (GEK)

The Stileto vehicle carries 8 missiles arranged in 2 launcher pods with 4 missiles each. It can fire 9M33M2 and 9M33M3 missiles used by the Osa or new T382 missiles.
