China Deploys J-11BH Fighters to Woody Island

China has published photos of People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF) J-11BH/BHS fighters deployed to Woody Island in the Parcel archipelago in South China Sea.

Woody Island, also known as Yongxing Island  and Phu Lam Island , is the largest of the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea. It is part of the Amphitrite Island Group in the eastern Paracels.

Woody Island under PRC control, it is administered by the Yongxingdao Neighborhood Committee and is the seat of Sansha, a prefecture-level city of Hainan province. In June 2014, UK newspaper The Independent stated that the island had a population of 1,443.
