Mystery Asian customer buys Israeli-made computerized rifle sights

Israeli defense technology firm SMARTSHOOTER has secured a new order for hundreds of its SMASH 3000 fire control systems from an undisclosed Asia-Pacific customer, the company announced.

The systems will be used for counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (C-sUAS) missions and precision engagement of ground targets.

The contract follows what SMARTSHOOTER described as a period of “thorough operational use-case evaluation and testing” by the customer, who expressed strong satisfaction with the system’s performance.

SMASH 3000 is the lightest handheld-operated fire control system in SMARTSHOOTER’s lineup. The system combines artificial intelligence, computer vision, and advanced tracking algorithms to detect, track, and engage both aerial and ground threats with high precision. The company says the platform delivers a combat-proven hard-kill solution against drones and small UAS while significantly improving hit probability in combat scenarios.

The SMASH technology is already in operational use with military forces in the United States, Israel, Europe, the United Kingdom, and other NATO countries.

The family of systems includes handheld, remotely operated, and unmanned ground vehicle-mounted variants, all designed to increase mission effectiveness and situational awareness while improving hit probability against drones and conventional targets.

The SMASH system operates with an onboard computer that locks onto a target, tracks its movement, and synchronizes the shot release for rapid and accurate engagement. By integrating AI and advanced targeting algorithms, it turns standard infantry weapons into precision platforms. According to the company, the technology helps ensure accurate hits, reduces collateral damage, and allows forces to operate with greater precision and connectivity.
