UkrOboronProm passed two upgraded MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukrainian Air Force

Ukrainian state-owned defence industrial group UkrOboronProm (UOP) has announced that Ukrainian Air Force has received into service two upgraded MIG-29MU1 fighter jets.

According to the statement, the State Enterprise “Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant” (a subsidiary of the UOP) had carried out the upgrade work on the two MiG-29 aircraft that had been hand over to the Ukrainian Air Force.

The fighter jets were upgraded to the MiG-29MU1 configuration. These aircraft have undergone a complete overhaul with the continuation of the residual life, have received a more powerful radar station, which makes it possible to increase the range of detection of air targets, as well as an integrated satellite navigation system.

The MiG-29MU1 can carry air-to-air missiles; pods of unguided rockets; air bombs weighing up to 3,000kg and 30mm built-in aircraft gun with 150 rounds of ammunition.

The mission of the upgraded aircraft is to destroy hostile air targets within radar coverage limits and to destroy ground targets using unguided weapons in visual flight conditions.
