Myanmar orders six Su-30 fighter aircraft from Russia

Russia will sell six Sukhoi Su-30 fighter aircraft to Myanmar, the RIA news agency reported on Monday, citing the Russian Defence Ministry.

According to the Russian Deputy Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Alexander Fomin, Russia will supply six Su-30 fighter jets to Myanmar, according to an agreement reached during Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu’s visit to Myanmar.

“During the Russian defense minister’s visit an agreement was reached under which Myanmar would purchase six Su-30 planes,” Fomin said, adding that this plane “will become the main fighter aircraft of Myanmar’s air force to protect the country’s territorial integrity and repel any terror threats.”
