Lebanon-based manufacturer Frem has revealed new images showing development progress of its next-generation tactical vehicle, Venom, as the company continues work on a prototype designed for special operations missions, CEO David Frem confirmed. The images, shared by Frem, show the vehicle under construction in its Special Operation Vehicle (SOV) configuration, a lightweight variant focused on speed, mobility, and rapid deployment rather than heavy armor. The company said the prototype represents the first completed version of a modular platform intended to serve as the basis for an entire family of specialized vehicles. According to Frem, the Venom platform is designed as a customizable and modular system that can support multiple mission roles, including manned and unmanned variants. The company said the architecture allows different configurations to be built on the same core chassis, enabling adaptation for reconnaissance, transport, or other specialized tasks depending on operational needs. As noted by the company, the current prototype is optimized for high-mobility missions where operational speed and flexibility are prioritized. The SOV variant uses a reinforced but lightweight frame combined with an all-terrain suspension system intended to improve off-road performance. Frem said this design approach allows the vehicle to operate in difficult terrain while maintaining a high level of maneuverability. The Venom prototype is being developed as a tactical vehicle for units that require rapid insertion and extraction, particularly in environments where heavier armored vehicles would be limited by weight or terrain. The company did not release technical specifications or performance figures but emphasized that the platform is designed to balance structural strength with reduced mass. Frem said the modular nature of the vehicle is central to the Venom concept. The same base platform can be adapted into multiple specialized versions, including logistics, command, or unmanned ground vehicle configurations. The company added that future variants are expected to expand the platform’s role beyond special operations to broader tactical and security applications. Frem Venom The Venom project builds on Frem’s earlier experience in developing specialized vehicles in Lebanon. The company was among the first in the country to design and manufacture tactical vehicles locally, establishing a domestic capability in a sector traditionally dominated by foreign suppliers. Frem previously introduced the Immortal 4x4 vehicle, which was unveiled in 2018 after seven years of research and development. Frem Immortal The Immortal was notable as the first Lebanese-made vehicle to receive a national license plate, marking a milestone for the country’s automotive and defense manufacturing sector. That project laid the groundwork for Frem’s current efforts to develop more advanced and modular tactical platforms using domestic engineering resources. Frem describes its design philosophy as centered on continuous development, performance, and safety, with a focus on producing vehicles that combine innovation with operational utility. The company has stated that its long-term goal is to expand Lebanon’s ability to design and manufacture specialized vehicles for both domestic and export markets. David Frem said the Venom program reflects the company’s broader ambitions and its focus on building a domestic industrial base. “It is only one’s dream that can build a country,” Frem said, describing the company’s guiding philosophy and its focus on long-term development in Lebanon. The Venom prototype is still under construction, and the company has not announced a timeline for testing or production.
