Russia getting ready to develop the new hypersonic aircraft or hypersonic strike vehicle.

In Gromov Flight Research Institute is an important Russian aircraft test base, scientific research center located in Zhukovsky, based transport aircraft IL-76 is created flying laboratory-carrier planes for experiments with  hypersonic aircraft.

The IL-76 flying laboratory  will serve as carrier planes for hypersonic aircraft.  The new  hypersonic aircraft to be carried aloft and drop launched from under the wing of  IL-76.

According to the developers, the engine demonstrator will provide a cruising EGA in the range of speeds from M=5 to M=7 ( times the speed of sound).

US missile defenses can only counter ballistic missiles and warheads that have predictable trajectories. The new Russian  hypersonic aircraft is capable of maneuvering during flight while travelling at the edge of space, and so is extremely difficult to shoot down.
