Newest Russian Typhoon-U mine-resistant assault vehicle catches fire on road

The new Russian Typhoon-U mine-resistant assault vehicle caught fire on a road near the village of Molkino Krasnodar Krai, in the North Caucasus.

According to the video taken by bystanders, the new Russian modular vehicle Ural-63095, known as the Typhoon-U, caught fire on a road to Molkino, near a military training ground which is used for training military units of the Southern Military District.

Details of the accident were not disclosed, but know that one soldier was injured when tried to extinguish the fire.

The Typhoon-U is one of the most modern Russian mine-resistant assault vehicles was developed as part of a large Russia’s Taifun vehicle programme.

The 24-ton modular armored vehicle utilizes a 6×6 wheeled chassis fitted with special armor plates combining steel and ceramic to provide all-round ballistic protection against small arms fire for the crew, troops and cargo up to 14.5mm piercing ammunition.

The vehicles, built on a Ural military truck chassis, have a 450 horsepower YaMZ-5367 turbodiesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission, a hydropneumatic suspension providing for variable ground clearance, and are capable of highway cruising speeds up to 80 km/h. The Typhoon-U can transport 16 fighters plus three crew.
