Latvia holds military parade to mark the 98th anniversary of independence

The Latvian capital of Riga on Friday became the venue for the military parade dedicated to the celebration of the country’s Independence Day.

The National Armed Forces (NAF), civil guards, border guards, police officers and firefighters participated in the parade that took place on the embankment of the Western Dvina (Daugava in Latvian) river.

Years Foreign servicemen from the NATO member states deployed at the Baltic nation took part in the event. During the parade, the troops had been reviewed by country’s President Raimonds Vejonis, who had thanked NATO soldiers for protection of the country.
