KrAZ has developed new heavy special vehicle on commission from the Ukraine State Service for Emergency Situations

Kremenchug Automobile Plant has developed and built heavy special vehicle on commission from the Ukraine State Service for Emergency Situations for Lugansk SSES Regional Department.

Donbass rescuers have received advanced vehicle for mine clearing of liberated territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

This special vehicle is used for mine clearing, carrying rescuers to site where IED were detected, equipment and major caliber ammunition to destruction site.

The vehicle based on the KrAZ-5233ВЕ (4х4) off road chassis with load carrying capacity of up to 2 tonnes is provided with   turbocharged diesel engine rated at 335hp meeting Еuro 5 emission standard, winch with steel rope pulled backwards and the HIAB X-CL 8-2 crane for handling IED controlled from the distance of 15 m.

Unique cab is provided with the PZSА – 4 armor meeting DSTU 3975-2000 and bullet-proof glass.  Other equipment includes USB radio set, stationary GPS with digital map of Ukraine, scale 1:50 000, factory-installed ventilation and heating system, safety belts. Canopy-covered body is provided with pallet and various special tools for mine clearing.

According to rescuers such special vehicles are much needed in ATO zone.  After expelling aggressor from the territory mine clearing in populated areas, fields, forests and roads for safety of civil population is primary target.  Total area of land cleared by SSES deminers in Lugansk and Donetsk is 11,600 ha, total area of water space free from mines is 37,8 ha,  971 social infrastructure facilities have been demined, over 52 000 IED have been destroyed. But so much has to be done!
