Chinese Naval training regiment starts flight training

Chinese Naval training regiment with JL-9 fighter trainers attached to a training regiment with the PLA Naval Aviation University started flight training.

The Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China has released photographs of a JL-9 fighter trainers attached to a training regiment with the PLA Naval Aviation University during flight training near the Bohai Bay on January 5, 2018.

JianLian-9 (JL-9) is an advance trainer or light attack aircraft designed and manufactured by the Guizhou Aircraft Industry Corporation (GAIC) of China. The aircraft was designed for the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and the People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF).

China’s naval pilots have also been training on the JL-9 carrier-training version, known as the JL-9G, which has a tailhook fitted for arrested landings.
