Turkey’s first indigenous maritime cruise missile is ready for mass production

Turkey’s Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSB) announced that it has signed deals with two local firms for the production of Turkey’s first maritime cruise missiles.

In a statement published Friday, the SSB said it had signed an agreement for the mass production of ATMACA cruise missiles with Roketsan.

Meanwhile, Turkish defense giant Aselsan will produce launch control systems and other equipment for the missiles, the statement added.

According to the SSB, the companies developed both the missiles and the launch systems using local resources.

Under the agreement, the equipment and spare parts for the missile’s fire control system will be produced by leading Turkish defense company Aselsan.

The Atmaca project was launched to meet the need for naval cruise missiles to be deployed in the Turkish Naval Forces MILGEM national warship program.

The MILGEM — Turkey’s first indigenous warship program — was realized with over 65 percent domestic industry participation, with more than 50 domestic companies contributing to the project, according to the SSB.
