Upgraded BTR-60MK armoured personnel carrier begins road trials

Ukrainian the CDET LLC company has announced that the upgraded BTR-60MK armoured personnel carrier (APC) begun road trials at the military test range of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The new version of Soviet eight-wheeled armoured personnel carrier is a cost-effective modernization solution targeted to retrofitting the wide range of outdated BTR-60PB APC and its generics.

The upgrade package of the new BTR-60MK is consist of new two safer and more economical diesel engines CUMINS (replacing the outdated carburetor petrol ones) and additional protection kit; enhanced hatch system; upgraded optic & navigation systems.

Updated armoured personnel carrier BTR-60MK is designated for transportation of troops, infantry weapons and battlefield supplies in highway/road/off-road settings; to provide tactical operational support for security patrols and vehicle escort missions during special operations.

The BTR-60MK improvements over the basic versions also include enhanced cross-country capability; improved the fire safety of the vehicles due to the transition from petrol to diesel fuel; reduced operating costs and improved repairability.

After a series of state tests, it will be decided to serial upgrade the BTR-60, which is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
