U.S. Navy awards contract to Trijicon for handgun reflex sights

US optics company Trijicon has been awarded a $7,6 million contract by the U.S. Navy for handgun reflex sights.

The contract, announced 14 August by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), with a five-year ordering period is covers handgun reflex sights for the miniature aiming system – day optics program.

According to DoDO’s statement, the handgun reflex sight is a low profile, wide field of view, passive sight for rapid day and night pistol target engagements in confined spaces, while prisoner handling, or in extremis after the primary weapon malfunctions.

But the model of the sight is not specified in a notice of the deal.

Also noted that all work will be performed in Wixom, Michigan, and is expected to be completed by August 2023.

According to the company, specified for use by the Marines, U.S. Army and Navy Seals, self-illuminating Trijicon scopes and sights have earned a reputation as the most sophisticated and dependable combat optics on the battlefield.

Trijicon is an US-based company that manufactures and distributes optical sighting devices for firearms including pistols, rifles, and shotguns.

Trijicon specializes in self-luminous optics and night sights, mainly using the low-energy radioactive isotope tritium, light-gathering fiber optics, and batteries.
