U.S. Army awards contract to Longbow Limited for AH-64E radar electronics units

Longbow Limited, a joint venture between Northrop Grumman Corporation and Lockheed Martin, was awarded a new contract by the U.S. Army Contracting Command on 3 September to manufacture and deliver radar electronics units under a multiyear buy contracting arrangement.

The Department of Defense announced on Thursday an agreement worth about $164,6 million for  AH-64E helicopter mast mounted assembly and radar electronics units.

Work will be performed in Orlando, Florida, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2022.

The Longbow Fire Control Radar (FCR) provides Apache aircrews with automatic target detection, location, classification and prioritization, while enabling rapid, multi-target engagement in all weather conditions over multiple types of terrain and through battlefield obscurants.

The latest version of FCR software enhancements provide new operational modes and capabilities, including maritime, single target track, and 360-degree surveillance mode, as well as extended detection range capability against land, air and sea targets.
