Turkish company unveils ‘kamikaze’ drone at AFED 2018

Turkish company STM took part at the AFED 2018 exhibition at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. During the exhibition, STM introduced the Kargu loitering munition or also named ‘kamikaze’ drone.

The Kargu is an autonomous attack drone is designed in order to detection and strike against the enemy personnel or light armored vehicles.

Kamikaze drones, lightweight and often operable by a single soldier, are designed to crash into a target to detonate a warhead.

Its weight is 6,3 kilograms, and this includes the warhead and can be operated by a single soldier within a five-kilometer range, carrying out autonomous precision strikes on moving targets during day or night.

The flying platform is powered by four electrical motors that allow for covert activities. No equipment is required for takeoff and landing operations – the flying platform takes off vertically from the ground and lands on the ground or any other flat surface. The ground control station, antenna array and flying platform can be transported in a single backpack by one soldier.
