Infinity Tether

British unmanned systems developer Evolve Dynamics has introduced a new tethered drone solution designed to deliver continuous, jam-resistant aerial surveillance for up to 48 hours. The new system, called Infinity Tether, is compatible with the company’s Sky Mantis 2 and Wolfe unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and is engineered to provide persistent overwatch, perimeter security, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support in GPS-denied or electronic warfare (EW) conditions. Evolve Dynamics describes Infinity Tether as a rugged, lightweight, and intuitive platform capable of holding a fixed vantage point at adjustable altitudes of up to 100 meters. Its primary appeal is sustained endurance: when deployed, the tethered drone can remain airborne for more than 48 hours continuously, far surpassing the endurance limits of traditional battery-powered drones. “Stop worrying about battery life and start focusing on the mission,” the company said, underscoring the system’s focus on operational continuity and mission readiness. The hard-line connection enables radio-silent operations and provides a dedicated data pathway that cannot be disrupted by conventional electronic warfare techniques. The system’s design allows operators to maintain persistent aerial observation of a designated area — such as a base perimeter, critical infrastructure site, or forward operating position — without the logistical challenges of frequent battery changes or the vulnerabilities associated with wireless data transmission. For military users, this capability provides a decisive edge in complex environments where electronic warfare, GPS spoofing, and communications denial have become central features of modern conflict. Infinity Tether is also equipped with a unique “Hot-Drop” feature, allowing operators to instantly transition from tethered mode to free flight if mission requirements change — such as when a target needs to be pursued. Once released, the drone can continue untethered operations for an additional 30 minutes using onboard battery power. This dual-mode flexibility combines the persistent endurance of a tethered platform with the agility of a free-flying drone, giving operators more tactical options in fast-changing situations. The system’s hot-swappable design allows rapid replacement of the standard Sky Mantis battery, and it can be powered directly from mains electricity or a field generator. Its environmental rating (IP54) ensures operational reliability in harsh conditions, with temperature tolerance from -30°C to +55°C and wind resistance up to 22 knots. Evolve Dynamics says the Infinity Tether is engineered for scenarios where conventional drone operations face limitations. Its ability to operate in radio-silent, dual-path communications modes and deliver secure ISR data in EW-contested or GPS-denied environments makes it particularly suited for modern battlefields, border security, and sensitive surveillance missions. With a total system weight of 13.2 kilograms and a single-cable power-and-data line capable of reaching 100 meters, the Infinity Tether can be quickly deployed for fixed-site monitoring or integrated into broader ISR operations as a persistent node. The system is expected to enhance the effectiveness of both military and homeland security missions, particularly those requiring long-duration overwatch or continuous sensor coverage in complex operational theaters.
