Russia deploy S-300 AA missile system in the Arctic

A new air defence missile regiment of the Northern Fleet Kola Air Defence formation has taken up combat duty, defending Russian air boundaries.

The regiment is located at the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. It is equipped with the S-300 AA missile system, capable of destroying enemy air assault weapons within the range of several hundred kilometers.

The regiment is the first fully functional Northern Fleet military unit, formed on the islands of the Arctic Ocean. Until now, only separate units and groups have been deployed in this region.
