Russian fast landing craft collided with the bridge during military parade

The Project 11770E Serna air-cavity fast landing craft has collided on the bridge during Russia’s Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg, on 29 July.

High-speed air cavity patrol boat “Ivan Pas’ko”, designed for transportation and debarkation on an unequipped shore of wheel and caterpillar technical equipment, was carrying 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer.

As a result of the collision, no one was injured, but the bridge and the side of the boat were partially damaged.

The Main Naval Parade timed to coincide with Russia’s Navy Day has taken place in St. Petersburg and Kronshtadt, involving about 40 warship and around 40 aircraft and helicopters.

The Serna class landing craft, or Project 11770, is a class of air cavity system landing craft constructed for the Russian Navy. Twelve boats were built in 1994-2014.

The fast landing craft main task is to quickly get to the shore, to land troopers and just as quickly go away to a safe distance, for example, for a new “load” in the form of armored vehicles and soldiers.
