Russian armed forces to receive 20 Uran-9 unmanned combat ground vehicles in 2016

Russian armed forces will receive 20 Uran-9 unmanned combat ground vehicles before the end of this year. That was reported by TASS.

“Until the end of this year, in the troops will be delivered five sets battle multipurpose robotic complex” Uran-9 “Each kit includes four combat vehicles in an embodiment of a reconnaissance or fire support vehicle , a mobile command vehicle and two of the transporter.” – Said the source agency.

The Uran-9 is a tracked unmanned combat ground vehicle (UCGV) being developed and produced by Rostec State Corporation.

The Uran-9 heavily armed with a 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon, a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and multiple 9M120 Ataka anti-tank guided missiles. The Uran-9 also has a suite of optics and targeting systems that includes thermal imaging and a laser designator.

The Uran-9 will be particularly useful during local military and counter-terror operations, including those in cities. Its use will significantly reduce personnel casualties.

In 2016 Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will begin to promote the Uran-9 combat multipurpose robotic system in the international market.
