Russia signed a contract with Iran for the delivery of the modernized S-300VM «Antey-2500» surface-to-air missile systems.

A source familiar with the situation said in mid-June that Russia and Iran were in talks on resuming the implementation of the S-300 delivery contract. According to the source, Russian officials insisted on the withdrawal of the lawsuit and signing of a new contract instead.

The $800-million contract signed between Moscow and Tehran in 2007 to supply five S-300 squadrons was put on hold in 2009, and terminated altogether after the UN imposed sanctions on Iran in 2010.
