Remdizel develops new family of special military vehicles based on K-53949 APC

The Russian Company Remdizel is progressing the development of a new family of multirole modular special military vehicles based on the chassis of the K-53949 armoured personnel carrier.

The new family of armoured vehicles is also called Taifun-K (Typhoon-K) and is intended for the troop transport role, medical and evacuation vehicle and as a platform for installation of various special equipment or weapon modules. According to the Russian military website, the first in the family appeared its K-53949 armoured personnel carrier, the work on which began at the JSC “Remdizel” in Naberezhnye Chelny in 2012.

The K-53949 is a special-purpose mine-resistant armoured wheeled vehicle with a combat weight of 15 tons, two crewmembers, and a passenger capacity of eight dismounts. It’s 350 hp engine producing a maximum road speed of 105 km/h.

In addition to the standard version, was designed a prototype of an armoured ambulance version for the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield. The new armoured ambulance version of the Taifun-K using the same chassis as the K-53949 armoured personnel carrier.

There is also another special vehicle:

The new family of special military vehicles provide a high level of mine and ballistic protection.Habitable space on all machines is sealed for Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense, and is supported by maintaining the crew and troop compartment at an artificial overpressure through a air filtration system.
