Nigeria to buy first three JF-17 Thunder fighter jets

Nigeria’s military has inked an agreement with Chengdu Aerospace Corporation and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex to purchase JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

According to Nigeria’s federal budget approved for 2016 fiscal year, Nigerian Air Force signed a deal to buy three new JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

For 2016, Nigeria has issued USD $15.88 million for the purchase. However, the proposed 2017 budget lists USD $68.76 million for “platform acquisitions … for counter air, counter surface, air ops for strategic effect and air support operations.”
