Russian subs fired Kalibr cruise missiles in Black Sea waters

In accordance with the combat training plan, the Black Fleet submarines Rostov-on-Don and Novorossiysk fired cruise missiles Kalibr at ground and surface targets at the training areas in the Black Sea waters.

In course the mission, the Rostov-on-Don hit the target located on the shore near Opuk training ground. The submarine Novosibirsk fired at surface target located at a naval training area of the Black Fleet.

The missiles were launched from a submerged position. More than 20 warships and support vessels as well as Fleet Air Force aircraft were involved to provide security during the training.

Earlier, the submarines Rostov-on-Don and Novorossiysk performed missions as part of the Russian naval group in the Mediterranean Sea in Syria.
