Recommended:

Boeing has been awarded a $56,7 million contract for support of the T-45 aircraft for the U.S. Navy.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced the contract, for support of repairs, parts and engineering of the T-45 aircraft, on Monday.

The contract covers management support as well as engineering and integrated logistics support by the original equipment manufacturer for the post-production support phase of the T-45 aircraft lifecycle.

The DoD also noted that this contract includes special tooling and test equipment, data accessibility and obsolescence identification, and resolution in addition to field services support that will provide subject matter expertise in the areas of environmental control systems, cockpit pressurization and On-Board Oxygen Generation Systems integration.

Worl is expected to be completed in January 2022.

The T-45 Goshawk is a highly modified version of the British BAE Systems Hawk land-based training jet aircraft.  The T-45 was selected to meet the U.S.Navy requirement for an undergraduate jet pilot trainer to replace the TA-4J Skyhawk and T-2C Buckeye.

The T-45 is based on the airframe of the basic Hawk Mk 60, but features a new forward fuselage deepened to house a new twin-wheel nose gear, redesigned main gear units, a taller fin and tailplane of increased span, a single ventral fin, fuselage side-mounted airbrakes, an arrester hook and small fins ahead of and below the tailplanes.
