The Media Center for the Saudi-backed Yemeni armed forces had released a new video showing the recently received Serbia-made assault rifles.

Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces had received the batch of new Serbian assault rifles M05 E1 in caliber 7.62×39 mm as military aid by Saudi Arabia.

The M05 E1 is a new modular automatic assault rifle developed by Serbian Company Zastava. According to the company, the new assault rifle M05 E1 belongs to a group of new models of assault rifles in caliber 7.62×39 mm. The modular platform, based on Kalashnikov system, ensures perfect function in all climate and terrains conditions.

Unlike the Soviet precursor, main components of the M05 E1 assault rifles are in polymer and aluminum.

New rifles also fitted with folding the stock and Picatinny rails mounted on top and bottom parts of the handguard which can be used to mount Red Dot sight or sniper scope. The front sides of the weapon are also fitted with Picatinny rails which can be used to put different types of accessories as a flash light.

Saudi Arabia leads an Arab military coalition that intervened in Yemen in 2015 to support the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi after Iran-backed Houthi rebels forced him into exile. Also, Saudi Arabia assists the Yemeni armed forces with weapons and ammunition.
